One of the main objectives of infrastructure development in Indonesia by the Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing is to ensure food and water security through the construction of dams. Currently, one of the dams under construction is the Budong-Budong Dam. In dam construction, complementary structures are necessary to support the dam's foundation. The construction of spillway structures
involves excavation work, which is categorized into three types: mechanical soil excavation, mechanical rock excavation using an Excavator Hydraulic Breaker,
and hard rock excavation using blasting. The blasting method is used for hard rock excavation and is performed through open blasting with limited timing or during
non-operational periods. This research aims to determine the implementation method and cost estimation required for the hard rock excavation with blasting for
the spillway structure of the Budong-Budong Dam. The research method employed in this study is a field study through observation and data collection. Based on the
conducted research, the implementation method for hard rock excavation with blasting in the Spillway Structure of the Budong-Budong Dam project includes preparation, drilling, charging, checklist, checking the blasting location, blasting, loading, and hauling the blasted material. After five observations, it was found that the cost estimation for the blasting work in this project is already efficient at
24.55%, with a net revenue of Rp231,120,492.41.
